Our core staff are augmented by project staff or contractors on an as-needed basis.

Dennis Rook, General Manager - Dennis brings over 35 years of banking experience (BMO Bank of Montreal and Envision Credit Union) in commercial and retail branch management including retail lending as well as operations involvement. His banking experience covers British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and North West Ontario including commercial, agriculture and retail lending. He worked extensively within the Credit Union system to help develop on line banking for businesses and concluded his position as a Manager Operations Retail and Commercial Banking. He was a charter member of a Lions Club in Saskatchewan and was a member in several communities and served a term as President of a small club. He has been a Rotarian for over 15 years and has completed a term as President of the Rotary Club of Chilliwack, the largest Rotary Club in BC and third largest in Canada. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Stó:lō Development Corp and also on the lending committee of Stó:lō Community Futures.  Dennis enjoys golfing, skiing, gardening, reading, traveling and spending time with family.

Teresa Pippus, Manager of Training and The Self-Employment Program - Teresa has trained and coached entrepreneurs for more than 20 years and has assisted over 1000 people start their own small or micro businesses. After owning 4 successful hospitality industry businesses and creating and delivering employee/customer retention workshops for over 15 years she realizes one important principle - happiness is profitable. She is known as a customer service and marketing guru and has a passion and intuition for helping people move forward. Teresa is a sought after speaker and workshop leader for amazing, authentic, and adventurous customer service. She lives in beautiful Fort Langley with her daughter Arden.

Bob Hahn, CPA, CMA, Business Analyst - Bob brings a wealth of business and technical experience to Community Futures South Fraser. Bob was previously the General Manager of a manufacturing company in the concrete industry and Senior Geophysicist/ Group Leader with resource companies in the energy sector. At CFSF, Bob has worked in the roles of Office Manager, Operations and Finance Manager, and mostly recently Business Analyst. Bob maintains our Loans Portfolio, Human Resources, and Western Economic Diversification (WD) reporting. A recent achievement for Bob was his CPA, CMA designation. Bob's joy in life is his family including eight wonderful grandchildren. Hobbies include speed cubing, guitar, and piano. Favorite saying - measure twice, cut once.

Suzanne Blakley Oaks, Self Employment Business Advisor - Suzanne works one-on-one with the participants of the self-employment program, coordinates CFSF's workshops, as well as providing business advisory services and specializing in assisting new business start-ups and the One Stop Business Registration for three levels of government. She brings 27 years of experience in the non-profit community services sector, real estate industry, forestry, and engineering sectors. Suzanne has worked with Community Futures for 12 years assisting clients with business start-ups. Suzanne lives in Abbotsford with her husband Curtis and enjoys spending time with her three grandsons and her daughter and son-in-law. She is actively involved in the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce and has been a director from 2009 to 2013. Suzanne also sits on the Government Affairs Committee. Suzanne enjoys helping people discover their greatest potential and she and her husband are involved in their church family as leaders.

Candace English, Community Economic Development - Having spent the majority of her life in the Fraser Valley, Candace has a strong, committed connection to our local communities as she assists local government, organizations and businesses in the improvement and development of a healthy, sustainable and diversified local economy. Along with her skills in marketing, office management, and project coordination Candace has over 14 years of small business experience in the service industry providing her with the knowledge and understanding of the opportunities and challenges that face small business owners and entrepreneurs here in the valley. Candace focuses her efforts on the improvement of the economic well-being and quality of life for our communities by assisting in the creation of long-term employment opportunities. In her free time, Candace enjoys photography and spending time with her family.

Annette Borrows, Vocational Rehab Consultant - Annette has been serving people with disabilities towards employment since 1998. Working with several funding agencies such as Fraser Health, Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation, Service Canada, Neil Squire and CLBC has given Annette a wide variety of experiences in assisting people towards recovery and breaking down barriers that people with disabilities face in the work force. Annette also teaches the Supported Employment Series through Douglas College and the Okanagan University College, a curriculum that she developed from her experiences. Annette also serves on several boards such as the Focus Disability Network Society, Canadian Association for Supported Employment, the Creative Centre Society, and the Rotary at Work project. Her role at CFSF allows her to increase community inclusion for all through accessibility.


Dale Enns, Self Employment Coordinator/Business Advisor - Dale is a Program Coordinator and Business Advisor for the Fraser Valley Self Employment Program and Community Futures Development Corporation. Dale has over 15 years of business experience in the service industry and over 10 years experience with non profit organizations. Dale has experience in sales, sales training, management, business ownership, nonprofit leadership, leadership mentoring, business and non profit consulting, personal and professional coaching including personal and professional relationship coaching. Dale lives in Abbotsford with his wife Andrea and their three sons and is currently finishing a Masters in Leadership at Trinity Western University. Dale’s greatest passions are realized through helping others discover their strengths and passions and reach their potential.

Bruce Fatkin, Business Advisor - Bruce is a native to Abbotsford and a former farmer in the Bradner area. As an employee of Community Futures for six years, he led several agricultural tourism and industry sector development projects and worked for a while helping emerging local small businesses with business planning and start-up. With the Fraser Basin Council of BC, Bruce helped form a local agricultural products marketing group in Agassiz and conducted a feasibility study for a farmers market in the area. He also worked with the hazelnut and crayfish sectors on value-added pre-feasibility investigations. He currently manages the Abbotsford Farm and Country Market and helps other non-profit organizations with project management as needed. Bruce serves on other non-profit boards including FarmStart BC and the Abbotsford/Mission Operation Red Nose.
