In establishing Alchemy Hair Lounge in Abbotsford a year and a half ago with the guidance of Community Futures South Fraser, she is already delivering the high-end downtown Vancouver beauty experience here.
With a decade of specialized knowledge and advanced colour training through the famous Suki’s Vancouver, Boucher is confident her clients will leave her salon feeling their “absolute best.”
Testimonials on her website ring with praise: “Charissa is absolutely wonderful! She took the time to explain everything as she went along and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my colour. She is so lovely and personable, and her home is welcoming, too. Her prices are beyond reasonable and the products she uses are top quality.”
Boucher attributes her success to Community Futures South Fraser (CFSF) self-employment program and personnel: “They gave me confidence, the logistics, and were unbelievably helpful,” in putting her vision to work.
“They taught me marketing, bookkeeping, goal-setting for my home-based business. CFSF showed me how to set business goals and stick to them with timelines,” said Boucher.
“My goal is to make my client’s visit delightful so they leave feeling both beautiful inside and out.”
Boucher said her rotating client list of 100 is perfect for her, and it is good to know the CFSF entrepreneurial support is there. “It’s good to have someone to reach out to in business.”
“I don’t do as much marketing now, and hopefully this is the last business I will do.”
She spends three to four hours with each client, and in the pandemic is leaving an hour between customers to sanitize.
Alchemy Hair salon is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays, and is closed on weekends.
Boucher enjoys her off-time with her husband and dogs at their cabin in Harrison.
